I saw an opportunity to massively de-risk our proposed earthwork project at Gailey Cutting, near Wolverhampton, with the use of innovative construction techniques. To do this we chose to work with SG Elite for their plant, skilled operators and technical ability.
Working alongside and as a part of my construction team, this has allowed us to fundamentally change the plan from mainly night-time possessions to mainly dayshifts. This has had a significant positive impact on safety and de-risking the programme which otherwise could not have been achieved. This completely aligns to Network Rail’s vision of getting people home safe every day.
In October 2020 KEM/SG Elite were requested to carry out ground investigation works and install 5 sets of inclinometers along an existing embankment in Brandon area. Previous attempts by the client to achieve these works were unsuccessful due to the difficult location and steepness of the embankment.
A new 1,075 MW wind farm located 27 km off the Angus Coast is due to be operational in 2024 – featuring 114 MHI vestas 10MW wind turbines. We assisted Nexans to connect the Seagreen offshore windfarm to the Scottish National Grid; with connection of 3 off 272m SESU pipes to Landfall pipes at coast of Carnoustie Golf Links.
